What is HDPE?
HDPE is high-density polyethylene. HDPE plastic bottles are slightly stiff and impact resistant making this an excellent shatterproof container for bottling. HDPE plastic bottles also have an excellent moisture barrier. HDPE plastic bottles are available in a variety of sizes and is the most widely used resin for plastic bottles. This material is economical, shatterproof and is compatible with a wide variety of products including acids and caustics. Although, HDPE is not compatible with solvents and it is not suitable for use with essential oils. It is supplied in FDA approved food grade.
The plastic bottles made from HDPE are translucent and bendable. If color is added it will make HDPE plastic bottles have a matte opaque appearance. They are very easily decorated. HDPE provide good protection at below freezing temperatures although as caution they should not be used with products filled at over 160 degrees F requiring a hermetic, or vacuum, seal.
